Paul Ghear膬 sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gavino Abarca kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. 脫scar Cordoba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paul Ghear膬, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Sporting de Gij贸n's 脫scar Cordoba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lisandro Roderigo in the 21st minute of play. 脫scar Cordoba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Norbert Chwalkiewicz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 27 minutes into the match, Norbert Chwalkiewicz had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of 脫scar Cordoba. Sporting de Gij贸n's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Norbert Chwalkiewicz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 脫scar Cordoba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paul Ghear膬, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. 脫scar Cordoba came out of the goal in the 38th minute to try and stop a shot by De Boedo Vengo's Norbert Chwalkiewicz. But to his dismay, Norbert Chwalkiewicz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Desiderio Ascencio kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Sporting de Gij贸n's Venancio Emesto got a free kick in the 44th minute. In the 45th minute, Paul Ghear膬 got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 47th minute Diego Maradona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wawrzyniec Charamut saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lisandro Roderigo was the one to do the kick off. Wawrzyniec Charamut showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diego Maradona in the 54th minute of the match. In the 55th minute Alejandro Rufo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wawrzyniec Charamut saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of De Boedo Vengo booed when Sporting de Gij贸n was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Saturnino Curcio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sporting de Gij贸n's Mario Zanabria was substituted for Alejandro Rufo. Cipriano Aresti's late challenge caught a Sporting de Gij贸n's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cipriano Aresti helped the player get up and apologised. After 60 played minutes De Boedo Vengo got a freekick which was hit by Cipriano Aresti. Diego Maradona sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matias Bilintx in the 63rd minute of play forced De Boedo Vengo's goalkeeper Wawrzyniec Charamut to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Matias Bilintx kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Sporting de Gij贸n's Elpidio Bixintxo was substituted for Saturnino Curcio. Matias Bilintx hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. If Matias Bilintx had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Sporting de Gij贸n's 脫scar Cordoba got control of the ball when Lisandro Roderigo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Diego Maradona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wawrzyniec Charamut having to interfere. 80 minutes had been played when some careless play by De Boedo Vengo's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Matias Bilintx was slow to take the kick. During this time Sporting de Gij贸n's players had a chance to rest. Sporting de Gij贸n's Matias Bilintx was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Wawrzyniec Charamut in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matias Bilintx in the 84th minute of play forced De Boedo Vengo's goalkeeper Wawrzyniec Charamut to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Matias Bilintx in the 84th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wawrzyniec Charamut prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 脫scar Cordoba came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by De Boedo Vengo's Paul Ghear膬. But to his dismay, Paul Ghear膬 quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. The crowd rose to their feet as Norbert Chwalkiewicz kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving 脫scar Cordoba. That made the score 0-4 in the 89 minute of play. Wawrzyniec Charamut took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Maradona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 93rd minute Diego Maradona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wawrzyniec Charamut saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Elpidio Bixintxo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The De Boedo Vengo players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
