Wawrzyniec Charamut was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Wawrzyniec Charamut made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diego Maradona in the 8th minute of play. Norbert Chwalkiewiczs short, quick shot in the 9thth minute got Óscar Cordoba to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Lisandro Roderigo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Óscar Cordoba having to make a save. Óscar Cordoba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lisandro Roderigo, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. De Boedo Vengo's Wawrzyniec Charamut played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diego Maradona in the 18th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Norbert Chwalkiewicz got free with Óscar Cordoba in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Wawrzyniec Charamut made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Saturnino Curcio in the 27th minute of play. Wawrzyniec Charamut showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Saturnino Curcio, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. 32 minutes into the match, De Boedo Vengo's goal looked a bit too open when Matias Bilintx came free, but Wawrzyniec Charamut reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lisandro Roderigo who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 37thth minute tested the skills of Óscar Cordoba when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Óscar Cordoba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lisandro Roderigo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 39 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goal looked a bit too open when Paul Gheară came free, but Óscar Cordoba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 44 minutes, Saturnino Curcio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sporting de Gijón's supporters crossed their fingers, but Saturnino Curcio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lisandro Roderigo was the one to do the kick off. Wawrzyniec Charamut showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diego Maradona, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Óscar Cordoba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paul Gheară in the 54th minute of play. After some careless play in the De Boedo Vengo defense, Alejandro Rufo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wawrzyniec Charamut. The De Boedo Vengo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wawrzyniec Charamut should have stopped the shot. Sporting de Gijón's Venancio Emesto was substituted for Alejandro Rufo. In the 60th minute Lisandro Roderigo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Óscar Cordoba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 62 minutes into the match, Rune Fanström notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of De Boedo Vengo's Wawrzyniec Charamut. Wawrzyniec Charamut was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Wawrzyniec Charamut made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Matias Bilintx sent off a good shot on target. Gabriel Diaz was slow to take the kick. During this time Sporting de Gijón's players had a chance to rest. Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Atilano Feo replaced Carlo Crema. Lisandro Roderigo might have been able to make a better finish in the 84th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Óscar Cordoba. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lisandro Roderigo ran back to his position shaking his head. Diego Maradona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wawrzyniec Charamut having to interfere. Venancio Emesto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Wawrzyniec Charamut made a huge save. In the 89th minute, Matias Bilintx ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wawrzyniec Charamut was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. With a little luck, De Boedo Vengo's Wawrzyniec Charamut got control of the ball when Venancio Emesto tried to sneak it across the goal line. Venancio Emesto did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 0-5 to the left of a surprised Wawrzyniec Charamut 93 minutes into the match. The De Boedo Vengo supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Sporting de Gijón's performance. The match ended with a win for Sporting de Gijón.
