The supporters of Sporting de Gijón booed when Loco De Remate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amado Nisio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sporting de Gijón's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Saturnino Curcio in the 27th minute. After taking down the ball on Sporting de Gijón's corner Saturnino Curcio fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Walmir Catarinense quite easily take care of the ball. Sporting de Gijón were awarded a corner in the 35th minute after Loco De Remate's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Saturnino Curcio took the corner.
