Spectators: 43 (Terracing: 33, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Cipriano Ganix started the match with the kick off. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cipriano Ganix in the 11th minute of play. Facundo Feria fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. In the 16th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gianluigi Donnarumma saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bela Herrero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 22nd minute of play forced PERSPOLIS's goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cipriano Ganix recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Facundo Feria tried to sneak it across the goal line. Daniel Zorita blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gianluigi Donnarumma having to make a save. Bela Herrero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julio Vera acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 34th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Enrico Duarte. PERSPOLIS's Gianluigi Donnarumma played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 39th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in PERSPOLIS's zone, Luis Andino stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gianluigi Donnarumma came out of the goal and Luis Andino tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 45th minute Cipriano Ganix shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. In the 51st minute, Felix Montenegro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cipriano Ganix in the 54th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 56 minutes into the match, Facundo Feria notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 61st minute the ball was on its way in behind PERSPOLIS's goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 62nd match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Primitivo Andino to maneuver through the defense. PERSPOLIS's Ingmar Bergman was substituted for Facundo Feria. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Honorio Carceles in the 64th minute of the match. Felix Montes kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. In the 67th match minute, PERSPOLIS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Constantino Salgado to maneuver through the defense. Cipriano Ganix sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bela Herrero in the 74th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Gianluigi Donnarumma tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bela Herrero kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, PERSPOLIS's Bela Herrero got a free kick in the 82nd minute. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to PERSPOLIS getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Pedro León hit a great ball. After having played for 87 minutes, Pedro León managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. PERSPOLIS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pedro León was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gianluigi Donnarumma made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 88th minute. Ingmar Bergman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Cipriano Ganix's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 91st minute of the game. With a little luck, PERSPOLIS's Gianluigi Donnarumma got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. PERSPOLIS's Ingmar Bergman got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but PERSPOLIS were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
