Cankut Wakabayashi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sansone Poso in the 7th minute of play. Cankut Wakabayashi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristiano Ronaldinho in the 9th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sansone Poso got free with Cankut Wakabayashi in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 13 minutes Turkey's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Archibaldo Velaz who took care of the corner kick. Cankut Wakabayashi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cristiano Ronaldinho's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. A collision led to Colombia getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Manel Fonelleda hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Turgut Soyuer in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rene Higuita prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 27th minute Sansone Poso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cankut Wakabayashi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rene Higuita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gürhan Sarıoğlu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rene Higuita didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Turgut Soyuer went, in the 30th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Oriche Isazi in the 40th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cankut Wakabayashi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to Colombia getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Manel Fonelleda hit a great ball. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Colombia's Rene Sampedro was substituted for Oriche Isazi. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sansone Poso to make the kick off. In the 54th match minute, Turkey was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Behzat Tanyeli to maneuver through the defense. Turgut Soyuer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cankut Wakabayashi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Don Gato in the 59th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Turgut Soyuer in the 66th minute of play forced Colombia's goalkeeper Rene Higuita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Colombia's Rene Higuita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Turgut Soyuer in the 74th minute of play. 78 minutes into the match, Turkey's goal looked a bit too open when Sansone Poso came free, but Cankut Wakabayashi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Turkey's Zé Dos Reis was substituted for Turgut Soyuer. After 81 minutes Turkey's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. Turkey were awarded a corner in the 87th minute after Colombia's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Servet Sönmez took the corner. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind Colombia's goalkeeper Rene Higuita, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The Turkey players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
