Denti della Vecchia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Venezuela the free kick. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Denti della Vecchia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fritz Hernström didn't get a good kick on the ball. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tolek Kornatowski in the 44th minute of play. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kevin Hunn in the 47th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tolek Kornatowski made a kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Denti della Vecchia's goalkeeper Lars Setz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tomas Illescas. In the 56th minute M. Ramdhan Patirajawane shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 62 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 67th minute M. Ramdhan Patirajawane shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
