After some careless play in the Peru defense, Larry Ferrell kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rolando Noboa. The Peru fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rolando Noboa should have stopped the shot. 26 minutes into the game, Danny Bartlett threw the ball into play from the sideline. Peru's Eliseo Mina quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Julian Murillo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ged Nightingale read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. In the 38th minute of the game Danny Bartlett made a throw-in which Fabricio Enekoitz played forward. Julian Murillo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Julian Murillo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ged Nightingale was relentless in the 44th minute of the game. Ged Nightingale didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Peru's Julian Murillo shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 1-1 in the ordered_time% minute.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Larry Ferrell stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
