Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Özgün Hatip in the 3rd minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Özgün Hatip kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Benito Sanz. That made the score 2-0 in the 17 minute of play. In the 22nd match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abel Carballo to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Galapagos Islands FC's Radomil Mroczynski slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Benito Sanz. That made the score 3-0 after 24 minutes of play. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Özgün Hatip, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Özgün Hatip got free with Benito Sanz in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Galapagos Islands FC booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexander Carballo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Radomil Mroczynski sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Juan Rubio got a free kick in the 45th minute. A hard shot by Frankie Flambard from long distance, 46 minutes into the match, got Benito Sanz's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Özgün Hatip in the 47th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The wind increased when Axel Tasis made the kick off in the second half. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Özgün Hatip, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Özgün Hatip kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Galapagos Islands FC made a substitution. Gleb Levkov replaced Radomil Mroczynski. In the 57th minute, Özgün Hatip hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gleb Levkov struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Galapagos Islands FC. After 62 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Hugo Ferrant. In the 63rd minute, Özgün Hatip got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Özgün Hatip sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Galapagos Islands FC's Markus Åström quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. An unexpectedly hard shot by Özgün Hatip in the 78th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Özgün Hatip fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. In the 83rd match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hugo Ferrant to maneuver through the defense. 88 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Gleb Levkov came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Özgün Hatip managed to get in a good position for a shot. Galapagos Islands FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Özgün Hatip was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Sigvart Biegel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Galapagos Islands FC fully deserved thier win.
