The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Zorita to strike the kick off in the second half. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jerry Lodge. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. Valencia C.F.'s Jerry Lodge proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Valencia C.F. from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Jerry Lodge in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 82 minutes into the match, Valencia C.F.'s Joe Herring sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Daniel Zorita blasted a shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jerry Lodge having to make a save. When the referee blew the final whistle, Valencia C.F. could leave the field as winners, despite Ecuador having more of the ball for most of the match.
