The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Melik İksir fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hıdır Taykara having to interfere. Hafız Safa took the ball and in the 20 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hıdır Taykara. Hıdır Taykara dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Behlül Uçbay charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Behlül Uçbay the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Behlül Uçbay kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Hafız Safa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Reşat Suerdem kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Melik İksir received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Hıdır Taykara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hafız Safa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hıdır Taykara having to make a save. In the 34thth minute of the game Melik İksir who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Fenerbahçe's Hıdır Taykara was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ertan Ucatekin struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Eyüp Oğuralp didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fenerbahçe. 39 minutes into the game, Hafız Safa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fenerbahçe SK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fenerbahçe the free kick. After 41 played minutes Fenerbahçe SK got a freekick which was hit by Recep Çiltay. If Hafız Safa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Melik İksir recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sezgin Arslanşah to make the kick off. Eyüp Oğuralp showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ertan Ucatekin, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Fenerbahçe SK's Eyüp Oğuralp played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sezgin Arslanşah in the 60th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Melik İksir during the 61st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Fenerbahçe SK's Melik İksir got a free kick in the 61st minute. In the 63rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Fenerbahçe's goalkeeper Hıdır Taykara, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 64th minute, Gökhun Dölek hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hıdır Taykara took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hafız Safa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 74 minutes into the game, Recep Çiltay was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fenerbahçe SK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fenerbahçe the free kick. In a very dangerous position, a player in Fenerbahçe SK fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 73rd minute. Penalty! If Sezgin Arslanşah had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After having played for 82 minutes, Hafız Safa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fenerbahçe SK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hafız Safa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Sezgin Arslanşah had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Fenerbahçe's Ali Atıf Polathan got a free kick in the 95th minute.
