Eyüp Oğuralp showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Braulio Xacintu, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. Melik İksir sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Miraflores getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Atilano Casomiro hit a great ball. In the 19th minute, Hafız Safa made a precise shot to the right of Gaston Semeno. Miraflores's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. When Hafız Safa came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Fenerbahçe SK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hafız Safa couldn't finish the play. 23 minutes into the game, one of Miraflores:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Fenerbahçe SK a penalty, 25 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Recep Çiltay, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Miraflores's Gaston Semeno. 0-2. After 29 played minutes Fenerbahçe SK got a freekick which was hit by Müslüm Akyıldız. When Aytekin Ula came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Fenerbahçe SK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aytekin Ula couldn't finish the play. Fenerbahçe SK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Melik İksir was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half Fenerbahçe SK were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Braulio Xacintu to make the kick off. If Hafız Safa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Francisco Bordat in the 87th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eyüp Oğuralp prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Hafız Safa did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-6 to the left of a surprised Gaston Semeno 89 minutes into the match. After 93 played minutes Miraflores got a freekick which was hit by Atilano Casomiro. Recep Çiltay was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 93rd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. When Braulio Xacintu came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Miraflores fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Braulio Xacintu couldn't finish the play.
