That made the score 1-0 in the 4 minute of play. 7 minutes into the match, U Craiova's goal looked a bit too open when Hafız Safa came free, but Nae Pavel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 11th minute, Horea Frumușanu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eyüp Oğuralp was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Eyüp Oğuralp took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Narcis Silişteanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Narcis Silişteanu succeeded in the game's 18th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-2. If Romeo Crețulescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Horea Frumușanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 29th minute, Narcis Silişteanu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eyüp Oğuralp was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. If Romeo Crețulescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Narcis Silişteanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eyüp Oğuralp didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Călin Pamfil went, in the 44th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-5 was the resulting score. When the match had gone on for 48 minutes, Horea Frumușanu put it in 1-6 from a short distance just to the right of Eyüp Oğuralp. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-6 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Horea Frumușanu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. U Craiova's Nae Pavel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Melik İksir in the 55th minute of play. Romeo Crețulescu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eyüp Oğuralp read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. A collision led to Fenerbahçe SK getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Aytekin Ula hit a great ball. Romeo Crețulescu took the ball and in the 69 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Eyüp Oğuralp. Eyüp Oğuralp dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-7. In the 78th minute Narcis Silişteanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eyüp Oğuralp saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of U Craiova booed when Fenerbahçe SK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Melik İksir didn't get a good kick on the ball. 85 minutes into the match, Horea Frumușanu notched a goal, 1-9, to the right of Fenerbahçe SK's Eyüp Oğuralp. Eyüp Oğuralp was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 91 played minutes U Craiova got a freekick which was hit by Dorin Cârstoiu. Nae Pavel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hafız Safa in the 96th minute of the match. U Craiova's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
