Júlio Sampaio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rodrigo Menezes's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. Cristiano Balsemão's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Celso Damásio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. Rui Horta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Pilar FC booed when Lenhadores do Mato was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Germano Malafaia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lenhadores do Mato's Hermano Benevides was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Júlio Sampaio in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Pilar FC's Júlio Sampaio proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save Pilar FC from getting a goal against them. 87 minutes into the match, Pilar FC's goalkeeper Júlio Sampaio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rodrigo Menezes. Júlio Sampaio came out of the goal in the 88th minute to try and stop a shot by Lenhadores do Mato's Rodrigo Menezes. But to his dismay, Rodrigo Menezes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6. Rodrigo Menezes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute.
