Carnerillo's Camilo Gelacio got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 12th match minute, U Craiova was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Horea Frumușanu to maneuver through the defense. Carnerillo's Fabricio Nuñez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dorin Cârstoiu in the 14th minute of play. Juan Sendoa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eugenio Peio in the 16th minute of play. Juan Sendoa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eugenio Peio, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Eugenio Peio made a kick off. 56 minutes into the match, Călin Pamfil dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Fabricio Nuñez, 0-5. Ştefan Stârcea took the ball and in the 60 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fabricio Nuñez. Fabricio Nuñez dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-6. Horea Frumușanu was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 64th minute. U Craiova's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Fabricio Nuñez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Romeo Crețulescu in the 66th minute. Horea Frumușanu was extremely unlucky when he, in the 68th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. After a defensive mix-up in Carnerillo's zone, Denis Milcoveanu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fabricio Nuñez came out of the goal and Denis Milcoveanu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fabricio Nuñez made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Romeo Crețulescu sent off a good shot on target. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Justo Firmo during the 72nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 72 played minutes Carnerillo got a freekick which was hit by Justo Firmo. If Horea Frumușanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 80th minute of the game. One of Carnerillo:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of U Craiova:s goal. When the match had been going on for 81 minutes, U Craiova's Dorin Cârstoiu got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Fabricio Nuñez. Dorin Cârstoiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Carnerillo's zone, Călin Pamfil stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fabricio Nuñez came out of the goal and Călin Pamfil tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Juan Sendoa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Camilo Gelacio in the 93rd minute of the match. Dorin Cârstoiu succeeded in the game's 98th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-10.
