The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Racing Miami Futbol Club were furious when Vance Tidwell was red carded, 5 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 6th minute there was a penalty for C. A. Independiente. Diego Cagna stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Guilherme Veiga. 0-1. In the 9th minute, Wallace Whatley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 12th match minute, C. A. Independiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Monzón to maneuver through the defense. Ubaldo Fillol was out of position in the 13 minute of play, and Shane Smiley capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Shane Smiley really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Romeo Raulo in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ubaldo Fillol prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Guilherme Veiga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gilbert Guzman in the 24th minute of play. In the 24thth minute of the game Gilbert Guzman who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Racing Miami Futbol Club's Guilherme Veiga was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 26 minutes, Xu Yun Quan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C. A. Independiente's supporters crossed their fingers, but Xu Yun Quan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Racing Miami Futbol Club's Chu Zheng Yu got a free kick in the 29th minute. After having played for 35 minutes, Xu Yun Quan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C. A. Independiente's supporters crossed their fingers, but Xu Yun Quan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to C. A. Independiente getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Elliot Orozco hit a great ball. Racing Miami Futbol Club's Guilherme Veiga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Xu Yun Quan in the 48th minute of play. C. A. Independiente's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Diego Cagna in the 50th minute. The corner led C. A. Independiente's Diego Cagna to fire away a dangerous shot which Guilherme Veiga despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Shane Smiley to strike the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Racing Miami Futbol Club's Guilherme Veiga got control of the ball when Xu Yun Quan tried to sneak it across the goal line. Guilherme Veiga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Xu Yun Quan, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xu Yun Quan in the 61st minute of play forced Racing Miami Futbol Club's goalkeeper Guilherme Veiga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. C. A. Independiente's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Diego Cagna in the 63rd minute. C. A. Independiente's Diego Cagna was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Guilherme Veiga in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Xu Yun Quan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Guilherme Veiga made a huge save. Shane Smiley struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Ubaldo Fillol didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Racing Miami Futbol Club. Racing Miami Futbol Club's Ervin DeJesus was substituted for Shane Smiley. Racing Miami Futbol Club made a substitution. Keenan Worthington replaced Romeo Raulo. Elliot Orozco hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Racing Miami Futbol Club's Denny Godwin was substituted for Chu Zheng Yu. Elliot Orozco kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. In the 71st minute of the match Phil Vine shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ubaldo Fillol showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Wallace Whatley kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. In the 77th minute Ervin DeJesus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ubaldo Fillol saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 82 played minutes Racing Miami Futbol Club got a freekick which was hit by Thomas Reeves. Keenan Worthington charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Keenan Worthington the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Ubaldo Fillol took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Keenan Worthington, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 92nd minute of the match Racing Miami Futbol Club got a corner. C. A. Independiente's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Phil Vine ran over to the corner to take the kick. 94 minutes into the match, C. A. Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Ervin DeJesus came free, but Ubaldo Fillol reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Keenan Worthington received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Ubaldo Fillol tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The whistle blew for the end of the second half and the match was still tied. The players were able to take a short break before lining up again for extra-time.
The players didn't get much rest, but they still tried to pep each other up as they lined up for the first half in overtime. C. A. Independiente's Sandy Spaulding started the play with his kick off. In the 101st minute, Denny Godwin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 103rdth minute of the game Gilbert Guzman who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Racing Miami Futbol Club's Guilherme Veiga was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 106 minutes into the match, Ervin DeJesus had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ubaldo Fillol. C. A. Independiente's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ervin DeJesus was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Racing Miami Futbol Club had played much better football throughout.
