Primo Speranza came out of the goal in the 10th minute to try and stop a shot by Deportivo Ortegano's Oinomoas Konstantatos. But to his dismay, Oinomoas Konstantatos quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Paz Ungo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Leon Matthäus's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. Academia 1903's Primo Speranza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oinomoas Konstantatos in the 17th minute of play. 19 minutes into the match, Academia 1903's goal looked a bit too open when Orland Uceda came free, but Primo Speranza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Deportivo Ortegano were awarded a corner in the 20th minute after Academia 1903's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Tomasz Bambas took the corner. If Leon Matthäus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Academia 1903's Lucien de Neutere managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Orlandus Torrascasana in the 33 minute of the game. Leon Matthäus fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paz Ungo having to interfere. Paz Ungo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leon Matthäus, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Primo Buiza made in the 42nd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Orlandus Torrascasana. Jan Koller recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Academia 1903 players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Deportivo Ortegano were winning 0-1.

The supporters of Deportivo Ortegano booed when Academia 1903 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Timoteo Columbo didn't get a good kick on the ball. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Deportivo Ortegano walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
