Denílson Munhoz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Denílson Munhoz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cesar Holland in the 17th minute of play. Denílson Munhoz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Grigor Grigoryan, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. 34 minutes into the match, Khachatryan's goal looked a bit too open when Zézinho Rossi came free, but Tigran Balayan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zézinho Rossi in the 37th minute of play forced Khachatryan's goalkeeper Tigran Balayan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 40th minute, Zézinho Rossi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zézinho Rossi made a kick off.
