After having played for 7 minutes, Cecilio Telesforo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Spams's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cecilio Telesforo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ante Rebić might have been able to make a better finish in the 10th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Odón Mackenzie. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ante Rebić ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Inter de Chillán's zone, Domingos Beila stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Odón Mackenzie came out of the goal and Domingos Beila tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Spams fans' excitement grew in the 13th match minute when Spams's Ante Rebić looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Bairon Bernales hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. In the 18th minute of the match Domingos Beila shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Odón Mackenzie showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Spams's Dražen Ladić played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Francisco Lacunza in the 19th minute of play. Spams's Ante Rebić got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ante Rebić in the 31st minute of play forced Inter de Chillán's goalkeeper Odón Mackenzie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Odón Mackenzie made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ante Rebić in the 32nd minute of play. Bairon Bernales kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. After 33 played minutes, Spams's Domingos Beila shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Odón Mackenzie came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Spams reached it. The audience was convinced that Humberto Cutberto's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Odón Mackenzie was relentless in the 35th minute of the game. Ian Gillan hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Odón Mackenzie stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ante Rebić's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. After 39 minutes, Igor Tudor mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Spams and the Inter de Chillán players grew even worse after the yellow card. 45 minutes into the game, Inter de Chillán's Francisco Lacunza nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dražen Ladić made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. The Inter de Chillán players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Spams were winning 2-3.

Spams made a substitution. Enzo Berart replaced Gualterio Veto. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Juan Luis Alfaro to make the kick off. After 52 played minutes Spams got a freekick which was hit by Ante Rebić. 59 minutes into the match, Inter de Chillán's goalkeeper Odón Mackenzie had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ante Rebić. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ante Rebić in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Odón Mackenzie prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The Spams fans' excitement grew in the 61st match minute when Spams's Ante Rebić looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-5 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eriberto Rast during the 66th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 66 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Inter de Chillán! Odón Mackenzie had in the 68thth minute some difficulties stopping Domingos Beila's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his right side, but he still managed to hold the ball The excitement rose when Spams's Domingos Beila after 68 played minutes turned away three defenders near the goal, and after that shot a ball that was too difficult for Inter de Chillán's goalkeeper to hold. Score! 2-6. 72 minutes into the match, Inter de Chillán's goalkeeper Odón Mackenzie had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ante Rebić. Ante Rebić fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Odón Mackenzie having to interfere. Ante Rebić sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Odón Mackenzie made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Ante Rebić sent off a good shot on target. After 84 played minutes Spams got a freekick which was hit by Enzo Berart. Bairon Bernales's late challenge caught a Spams's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bairon Bernales helped the player get up and apologised. In the 88th match minute, Inter de Chillán was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bairon Bernales to maneuver through the defense. Spams's Domingos Beila couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 89th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Inter de Chillán. With a little luck, Inter de Chillán's Odón Mackenzie got control of the ball when Ante Rebić tried to sneak it across the goal line. 99 minutes into the game, Spams's Ante Rebić nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Odón Mackenzie made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-8. Spams played a much better game than Inter de Chillán and deserved their victory. The Inter de Chillán players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
