Angel Etxeberri made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Elias Damasceno sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Academia FC's Federico Nicholas got a free kick in the 37th minute. Eliseu Alagoano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Angel Etxeberri tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Elias Damasceno got free with Angel Etxeberri in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 41 minutes into the match, Eliseu Alagoano dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Angel Etxeberri, 1-0. In the 46th minute, Cléberson Santana hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Elias Damasceno stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
