In the 26th minute Rodney Cunningham shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hans-Jürgen Pötscher saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Northern Ireland's Ray Folwill played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robin Steckamp in the 27th minute of play. In the 34thth minute of the game Rodney Cunningham who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Austria's Hans-Jürgen Pötscher was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Northern Ireland's Dylan Browne was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Hans-Jürgen Pötscher in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 37 minutes into the match, Austria's goal looked a bit too open when Rodney Cunningham came free, but Hans-Jürgen Pötscher reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rodney Cunningham was the one to do the kick off. Ray Folwill showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adrian Meinhardt, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. 58 minutes into the match, Northern Ireland's goal looked a bit too open when Robin Steckamp came free, but Ray Folwill reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Austria defense, Nathan Murray kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hans-Jürgen Pötscher. The Austria fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hans-Jürgen Pötscher should have stopped the shot. Nathan Murray sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Austria were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Northern Ireland for a fine match.
