Kevin Keegan had several of the Nytäppet Fc's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 33 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Kamil Čontofalský as he didn't even see the shot coming. Leo Hagberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Neil Crawford, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Nytäppet Fc's Kamil Čontofalský got control of the ball when Kevin Keegan tried to sneak it across the goal line. Skövde AIK were awarded a corner in the 43th minute after Nytäppet Fc's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Chen Ao Fan took the corner. Skövde AIK's Chen Ao Fan was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Kamil Čontofalský in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the match clock showed 55 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Chen Ao Fan sped through Nytäppet Fc's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Kamil Čontofalský. If Chen Ao Fan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Nytäppet Fc's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Hans Petersson kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. Nytäppet Fc's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
