An unexpected shot in the 12th minute by Stefan Bogren got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Ronnie Hellström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stefan Bogren in the 13th minute of play. Ronnie Hellström made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Stefan Bogren sent off a good shot on target. Krister Uggstedt hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kevin Keegan in the 21st minute of play forced Lidköping's goalkeeper Kristoffer Västerstrand to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 22 minutes in the game, Kevin Keegan dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Ronnie Hellström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stefan Bogren in the 25th minute of play. Krister Uggstedt made in the 31st minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Lidköping's Jens-Åke Larsfelt. In the 35th minute, Lidköping's Stefan Bogren ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ronnie Hellström. Ronnie Hellström yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Ronnie Hellström was out of position in the 39 minute of play, and Stefan Bogren capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Stefan Bogren really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. Kevin Keegan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Kristoffer Västerstrand tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 45 minutes, Stefan Bogren took a quick shot and it went in 3-0 without a chance for Ronnie Hellström to make any attempt to save it.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Adam Mårtensson to strike the kick off in the second half. Ronnie Hellström showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stefan Bogren in the 51st minute of the match. Dariusz Puchlik sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Skövde AIK made a substitution. Jerry Williams replaced Kurt Hamrin. The corner led to Lidköping's Stefan Bogren getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. In the 80th minute Stefan Bogren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronnie Hellström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Lidköping fans cheered their team off the field, for while Skövde AIK had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
