In the 22nd minute, Julian Gmoch hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Wilfredo Benvide came free with the goalkeeper in the 23rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Omar Duardo could save by the left post. Tomás Abraão took the ball and in the 24 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Seyhan Atlıhan. Seyhan Atlıhan dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. A hard shot 27 in the game by Wilfredo Benvide from a close distance when the talented Omar Duardo managed to make a qualified save. Vancouver Reds's players were relieved. A collision led to Vancouver Reds getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Pang Jun hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomás Abraão in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Seyhan Atlıhan saved Formentera from getting behind. Seyhan Atlıhan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maxwell Eddy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 33rd minute Vancouver Reds were awarded a corner. Pang Jun went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Formentera's goalie and right to Joan Carrasco. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Formentera's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. 40 minutes into the match, Vancouver Reds's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Fernández came free, but Omar Duardo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julian Gmoch got his second yellow card in the match during the 43rd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Julian Gmoch hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Vancouver Reds's zone, Wilfredo Benvide stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Omar Duardo came out of the goal and Wilfredo Benvide tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Wilfredo Benvide was the one to do the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Wilfredo Benvide in the 52nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Omar Duardo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 56 minutes into the game, Formentera's Wilfredo Benvide nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Omar Duardo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Ferdinand Boucher struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Seyhan Atlıhan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vancouver Reds. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Wilfredo Benvide managed to get in a good position for a shot. Formentera's supporters rose to their feet, but Wilfredo Benvide was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Omar Duardo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 68 played minutes Vancouver Reds got a freekick which was hit by Tomás Abraão. In the 82nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Vancouver Reds's goalkeeper Omar Duardo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 89 minutes, Tomás Abraão mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vancouver Reds and the Formentera players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 89th match minute, Vancouver Reds was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomás Abraão to maneuver through the defense. 92 minutes into the match, Formentera's goalkeeper Seyhan Atlıhan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ferdinand Boucher. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
