The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. A sloppy throw-in by Tencho Spahiyski in the 93rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Romania's Xavi Popescu. In the 94th minute the ball was on its way in behind Bulgaria's goalkeeper Vitomir Starokin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the referee blew the final whistle, Romania could leave the field as winners, despite Bulgaria having more of the ball for most of the match.
