Enrique Cassaretto blasted a shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Emílio Serineu having to make a save. Emílio Serineu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Enrique Cassaretto in the 14th minute of play. Angola's Emílio Serineu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enrique Cassaretto in the 18th minute of play. 19 minutes into the match, Enrique Cassaretto notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Angola's Emílio Serineu. Emílio Serineu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Emílio Serineu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peru. Paul Ramon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fábio Quilempan in the 35th minute of play. If Enrique Cassaretto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 45 minutes into the match, Angola's Flavio Polido sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Paul Ramon narrowly saved just below the crossbar.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Enrique Cassaretto made a kick off. Angola's Emílio Serineu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enrique Cassaretto in the 51st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Enrique Cassaretto in the 55th minute of play forced Angola's goalkeeper Emílio Serineu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 57 minutes had been played when some careless play by Angola's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Albert Camus was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Peru's Albert Camus to fire away a dangerous shot which Emílio Serineu despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Angola's Rogério Teive was substituted for Fábio Quilempan. Peru's Paul Ramon proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save Peru from getting a goal against them. After 88 played minutes Angola got a freekick which was hit by Cláudio Pegacho. Angola's Edmundo Fontão got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Angola's zone, Tulio Andinyach stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emílio Serineu came out of the goal and Tulio Andinyach tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Peru's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
