Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Äliqulu Vermäliyev to make the kick off. Poland were awarded a corner in the 79th minute after Azerbaijan's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Lech Pisarcik took the corner. The corner ended in Lech Pisarcik almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Azerbaijan's Nuşirävan Cäbrayilov did a great save. In the 81st minute of the match, Adışirin Azayev tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Tolek Kiszkiel saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 88 minutes into the match, Poland's Grzegorz Gdaniec sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nuşirävan Cäbrayilov narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
