The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 7 played minutes G A I S got a freekick which was hit by Sixten Ekström. Staffan Eckegren made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pan Lin Zhen in the 12th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Pan Lin Zhen in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Staffan Eckegren saved G A I S from getting behind. Staffan Eckegren stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pan Lin Zhen's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. 19 minutes into the match, G A I S's goal looked a bit too open when Pan Lin Zhen came free, but Staffan Eckegren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. CRUZ DEL SUR were awarded a corner in the 21th minute after G A I S's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Artaç Yavuzalp took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Fan Yong Zhan got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Staffan Eckegren quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 22 minutes into the match, CRUZ DEL SUR's goal looked a bit too open when Cléber Marinho came free, but Zachariasz Dudkowski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Artaç Yavuzalp hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Zachariasz Dudkowski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rafael Zaldua in the 31st minute of play. G A I S's Norman Mabalane quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Fan Yong Zhan, made in the 33rd minute of the game. CRUZ DEL SUR's Zachariasz Dudkowski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matthias Bern in the 34th minute of play. 36 minutes into the match, G A I S's goalkeeper Staffan Eckegren had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pan Lin Zhen. Zachariasz Dudkowski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cléber Marinho in the 39th minute of the match. CRUZ DEL SUR's Zachariasz Dudkowski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Herman Biörkman in the 41st minute of play. Pan Lin Zhen took the ball and in the 44 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Staffan Eckegren. Staffan Eckegren dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. A collision led to G A I S getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Herman Biörkman hit a great ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rafael Zaldua was the one to do the kick off. With a little luck, CRUZ DEL SUR's Zachariasz Dudkowski got control of the ball when Rafael Zaldua tried to sneak it across the goal line. Staffan Eckegren came out of the goal in the 56th minute to try and stop a shot by CRUZ DEL SUR's Pan Lin Zhen. But to his dismay, Pan Lin Zhen quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. In the 61st minute, Pan Lin Zhen left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The CRUZ DEL SUR fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. CRUZ DEL SUR made a substitution. Eustacio Antonucci replaced Ronnie Odell. G A I S's Rafael Zaldua got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. G A I S made a substitution. Göran Wahlström replaced Sixten Ekström. Pablo Soto kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. In the 75th minute the ball was on its way in behind CRUZ DEL SUR's goalkeeper Zachariasz Dudkowski, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Cléber Marinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. G A I S's Zavior Moiselo was substituted for Herman Biörkman. Staffan Eckegren took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pan Lin Zhen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A throw-in in the 95th minute of the game was made by Fan Yong Zhan with Pippin Aguilera as target, who quickly passed the ball forward.
