Reko-Recko 03™'s Nildo Veloso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Paulo da Mata in the 7th minute of play. In the 8th minute, César Terra left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The S S Palestra Italia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when César Terra got free with Nildo Veloso in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 14 minutes into the match, Reko-Recko 03™'s goal looked a bit too open when Luís Paulo da Mata came free, but Nildo Veloso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 15th minute the ball was on its way in behind S S Palestra Italia's goalkeeper Remo da Costa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Remo da Costa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Walmyr Proença, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 20 minutes into the game, Pablo Vegetti was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Reko-Recko 03™'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave S S Palestra Italia the free kick. The supporters of S S Palestra Italia booed when Reko-Recko 03™ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pablo Vegetti didn't get a good kick on the ball. Célio Gonçalves lost his temper 27 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. César Terra could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Nildo Veloso made a huge save. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Marcelinho Azevedo to strike the kick off in the second half. Amauri Simões hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, S S Palestra Italia's Luís Paulo da Mata got a free kick in the 54th minute. In the 56th minute, André Luís Torres hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by César Terra in the 58th minute of play forced Reko-Recko 03™'s goalkeeper Nildo Veloso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carlinhos Travassos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Remo da Costa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Reko-Recko 03™ getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Marcelinho Azevedo hit a great ball. Aírton Carneiro might have been able to make a better finish in the 72nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Remo da Costa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aírton Carneiro ran back to his position shaking his head. Luís Paulo da Mata scored 4-0 in the 76th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nildo Veloso, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Luís Paulo da Mata took the ball and in the 82 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nildo Veloso. Nildo Veloso dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. 91 minutes into the game, João Vítor Peixoto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player.
