In the 15th minute of the match Colombia got a corner. China's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Archibaldo Velaz ran over to the corner to take the kick. 朱傲义 recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rene Higuita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from 朱傲义, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. 朱傲义's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rene Higuita read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. If Cristiano Ronaldinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 朱傲义 took the ball and in the 33 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rene Higuita. Rene Higuita dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. 朱傲义 sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 魏亮宇 took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristiano Ronaldinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Colombia made a substitution. Zaquiel Puredo replaced Cristiano Ronaldinho. 54 minutes into the match, Colombia's goalkeeper Rene Higuita had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by 朱傲义. In the 56th minute, 朱傲义 ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rene Higuita was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. 59 minutes into the match, China's goal looked a bit too open when Sansone Poso came free, but 魏亮宇 reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tạ 张飞 fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rene Higuita having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling 朱傲义 in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rene Higuita prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Colombia were awarded a corner in the 68th minute after China's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Archibaldo Velaz took the corner. The corner ended in Archibaldo Velaz almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but China's 魏亮宇 did a great save. 朱傲义 fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rene Higuita having to interfere. Rene Higuita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 朱傲义, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 77 minutes into the match, Rene Sampedro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of 魏亮宇. China's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rene Sampedro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-4. 魏亮宇 came out of the goal in the 81st minute to try and stop a shot by Colombia's Sansone Poso. But to his dismay, Sansone Poso quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-4. 朱傲义 blasted a shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rene Higuita having to make a save. When 朱傲义 came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the China fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that 朱傲义 couldn't finish the play. Lu Zhan Jian lost his temper 94 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in China fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 94th minute. Penalty! Despite being the better team, China failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
