Chipa y Tereré's Xie Chao Cheng was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 5 minutes into the game, Damaso Xacintu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Xie Chao Cheng was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After having played for 8 minutes, Jaroslav Nechvátal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club A. Chipa y Tereré's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jaroslav Nechvátal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Clayton Gol in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Xie Chao Cheng saved Club A. Chipa y Tereré from getting behind. Bernardo Cabral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Yahia van der Saar having to interfere. Sheriff's Yahia van der Saar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaroslav Nechvátal in the 13th minute of play. In the 16th minute Clayton Gol shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Xie Chao Cheng saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Xie Chao Cheng made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Clayton Gol in the 22nd minute of play. Yahia van der Saar made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Bernardo Cabral sent off a good shot on target. Yahia van der Saar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jaroslav Nechvátal in the 33rd minute of the match. In the last second Yahia van der Saar throw himself and got hold of the ball when Jaroslav Nechvátal in the 33rdth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. In the 34th minute Damaso Xacintu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Xie Chao Cheng saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 36th minute Sheriff were awarded a corner. Akakios Trachanas went to the cornerflag to take it. Xie Chao Cheng showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Clayton Gol in the 38th minute of the match. After 45 minutes of play, Sheriff's Damaso Xacintu made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Xie Chao Cheng was left in no man's land by his defense there! Sheriff made a substitution. Dragoş Bălace replaced Akakios Trachanas. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jaroslav Nechvátal was the one to do the kick off. Israel Igon hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Xie Chao Cheng made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Thodoris Tassoulis sent off a good shot on target. Damaso Xacintu struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Xie Chao Cheng didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sheriff. Sheriff made a substitution. Iraklis Karasavvidis replaced Dagan Pavlovic. Xie Chao Cheng made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Damaso Xacintu in the 68th minute of play. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Sheriff's goalie and right to Gregorio Elixio. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Sheriff's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaroslav Nechvátal in the 77th minute of play forced Sheriff's goalkeeper Yahia van der Saar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 80 minutes into the match, Sheriff's goal looked a bit too open when Gregorio Elixio came free, but Yahia van der Saar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Sheriff players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
