The audience thought a goal was coming when Sandro Andersen got free with Carlinhos da Costa in the 4th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of E.C 2 Janeiro RS booed when U21 Liechtenstein was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sandro Andersen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sandro Wolfinger hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The wind increased when Marco Valadares made the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes into the match, Andreas Fromm had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Carlinhos da Costa. E.C 2 Janeiro RS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Andreas Fromm was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. U21 Liechtenstein made a substitution. Ralph Gantenbein scored 6-0 in the 80th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Carlinhos da Costa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ralph Gantenbein in the 87th minute of play forced E.C 2 Janeiro RS's goalkeeper Carlinhos da Costa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carlinhos da Costa came out of the goal in the 89th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Liechtenstein's Ralph Gantenbein. But to his dismay, Ralph Gantenbein quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 8-0. There was no doubt that U21 Liechtenstein were the better team. U21 Liechtenstein's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
