Carlos Carioca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Morales Moreira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. João Adolfo Goiano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alysson Rezende having to interfere. In the 14th minute Luiz Fabiano Sena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Carioca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eric Hjortsberg in the 20th minute of play forced Brazil's goalkeeper Alysson Rezende to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carlos Carioca made an important save on a dangerous shot by Morales Moreira in the 22nd minute. 25 minutes into the match, IGUIPORÃ FC's goal looked a bit too open when Benjamin da Fonseca came free, but Carlos Carioca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Morales Moreira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Carlos Carioca made a huge save. 46 minutes into the match, Brazil's goal looked a bit too open when Zé Carlos Velasco came free, but Alysson Rezende reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Eric Hjortsberg made the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the game, one of IGUIPORÃ FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 57th match minute, Brazil was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lothar Matthäus to maneuver through the defense. When Jaime Moreno came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the IGUIPORÃ FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jaime Moreno couldn't finish the play. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Brazil fully deserved thier win.
