When Malcom Fournie came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the En Avant Nikko fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Malcom Fournie couldn't finish the play. In the 40th minute Eloy Calvino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Silvestre Derwin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Silvestre Derwin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Devidatta Vendetta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Niceto Matxin kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. With an all-out effort, En Avant Nikko's Jorge Armani threw himself towards the right post 46 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Malcom Fournie, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Andrew Dalli to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Esmeralda AFC booed when En Avant Nikko was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 50 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kiko Braga didn't get a good kick on the ball. En Avant Nikko's Silvestre Derwin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save En Avant Nikko from getting a goal against them. After 56 minutes En Avant Nikko's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Devidatta Vendetta who took care of the corner kick. 57 minutes into the match, En Avant Nikko's goalkeeper Silvestre Derwin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eloy Calvino. In the 60th minute Gösta Sellberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jorge Armani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Malcom Fournie in the 68th minute of play forced Esmeralda AFC's goalkeeper Jorge Armani to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Albert Harbuz made a great header on En Avant Nikko's corner, it was just that Esmeralda AFC's Jorge Armani managed to reach the ball for a save. En Avant Nikko's Gösta Sellberg got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
