The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. PHOENIX SC's Dadá D Agostino suffered a concussion after 2 minutes and had to leave the field. When Sakarias Stephansson fell near the penalty area in the 2nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Timmernabben FF's protests and gave Sakarias Stephansson a yellow card for diving instead. PHOENIX SC's Lucky Sihite was substituted for Dadá D Agostino. After a rather tough play, Timmernabben FF's Sakarias Stephansson got a free kick in the 3rd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Frederico Hendrickx got free with Tomás Guillen in the 6th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Timmernabben FF's Tomás Guillen got control of the ball when Frederico Hendrickx tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sakarias Stephansson in the 11th minute of play forced PHOENIX SC's goalkeeper Ray Clemence to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 12 minutes into the game, Frederico Hendrickx recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Tomás Guillen. Frederico Hendrickx showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. 15 minutes into the match, Timmernabben FF's goalkeeper Tomás Guillen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lilcho Ilchov. Timmernabben FF's Tomás Guillen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Timmernabben FF from getting a goal against them. When PHOENIX SC's Frederico Hendrickx in the 18th minute got a chance for a shot 18th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Timmernabben FF's goalie prevented a goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Frederico Hendrickx in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tomás Guillen saved Timmernabben FF from getting behind. With a little luck, Timmernabben FF's Tomás Guillen got control of the ball when Frederico Hendrickx tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 21st minute Kaká Junior shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ray Clemence saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Timmernabben FF's Tomás Guillen got control of the ball when Lilcho Ilchov tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ray Clemence took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arnulfo Lugo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 28 minutes into the match, Timmernabben FF's goal looked a bit too open when Samai Asmawan came free, but Tomás Guillen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 30 minutes, Lucky Sihite managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. PHOENIX SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lucky Sihite was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sakarias Stephansson in the 31st minute of play forced PHOENIX SC's goalkeeper Ray Clemence to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 34th minute, Kaká Junior ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ray Clemence was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. 37 minutes into the game, Lucky Sihite was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. PHOENIX SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Timmernabben FF the free kick. Lucky Sihite hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Tomás Guillen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frederico Hendrickx in the 41st minute of play. Frederico Hendrickx scored 2-1 in the 42nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tomás Guillen, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Arnulfo Lugo made a kick off. Kaká Junior's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Ray Clemence firmly grabbed it by the left post. After 57 minutes PHOENIX SC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Anton Hegg who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Anton Hegg almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but PHOENIX SC's Ray Clemence did a great save. Tomás Guillen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lucky Sihite in the 58th minute of the match. In the 58th minute, Lucky Sihite made a precise shot to the right of Tomás Guillen. Timmernabben FF's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. Tomás Guillen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Samai Asmawan, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. PHOENIX SC's Ray Clemence played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arnulfo Lugo in the 63rd minute of play. After some careless play in the PHOENIX SC defense, Kaká Junior kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ray Clemence. The PHOENIX SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ray Clemence should have stopped the shot. PHOENIX SC's Ray Clemence proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save PHOENIX SC from getting a goal against them. Tomás Guillen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lilcho Ilchov in the 73rd minute of play. Timmernabben FF were furious when Rasmus Överman was red carded, 77 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 77th minute, one of Timmernabben FF:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Timmernabben FF. In the 83rd minute Allan Hallgren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ray Clemence saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 85 played minutes PHOENIX SC got a freekick which was hit by Frederico Hendrickx. Ray Clemence made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnulfo Lugo in the 86th minute of play. Lilcho Ilchov charged in rather forcefully in the 87th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lilcho Ilchov the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Thanks to some nice moves Kaká Junior could shoot a difficult shot in the 93rd minute, which Ray Clemence however easily saved by the left post. With a little luck, PHOENIX SC's Ray Clemence got control of the ball when Kaká Junior tried to sneak it across the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the Timmernabben FF players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for PHOENIX SC.
