Vicente Ipar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cecilio Tristan in the 8th minute of play. The corner ended in Vânderson Barbosa almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Islas FC's Vicente Ipar did a great save. After a defensive mix-up in Islas FC's zone, Rene Sanson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vicente Ipar came out of the goal and Rene Sanson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 17th minute, Abuba Akotonon FC's Cecilio Tristan dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Hugo Orlando Gatti took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benedicto Tonete, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 24th minute Abuba Akotonon FC were awarded a corner. Genaro Elivareo went to the cornerflag to take it. 33 minutes into the match, Abuba Akotonon FC's Cecilio Tristan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Vicente Ipar narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Vicente Ipar made an important save on a dangerous shot by Genaro Elivareo in the 35th minute. In the 37th minute, Vânderson Barbosa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some careless play in the Abuba Akotonon FC defense, Eustacio Inko kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hugo Orlando Gatti. The Abuba Akotonon FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hugo Orlando Gatti should have stopped the shot. 42 minutes into the game, one of Abuba Akotonon FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Abuba Akotonon FC:s Hugo Orlando Gatti showed great skill when he stopped Benedicto Tonete:s penalty. In the 47thth minute of the game Benedicto Tonete who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Abuba Akotonon FC's Hugo Orlando Gatti was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Vânderson Barbosa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Vicente Ipar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ariel Artaldo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eduardo Emmanuel in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vicente Ipar prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eustacio Inko in the 59th minute of play forced Abuba Akotonon FC's goalkeeper Hugo Orlando Gatti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hugo Orlando Gatti was a little too slow when Benedicto Tonete got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 62nd minute. The score was now 1-2. Islas FC's Ryan York was substituted for Flavio Aballe. Hugo Orlando Gatti made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Benedicto Tonete sent off a good shot on target. Vânderson Barbosa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Vicente Ipar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hugo Orlando Gatti made an important save on a dangerous shot by Benedicto Tonete in the 73rd minute. 74 minutes had been played when some careless play by Abuba Akotonon FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Benedicto Tonete was slow to take the kick. During this time Islas FC's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Benedicto Tonete got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Hugo Orlando Gatti quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 84th minute, Vânderson Barbosa left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Abuba Akotonon FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. Hugo Orlando Gatti made an important save on a dangerous shot by Benedicto Tonete in the 87th minute. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Abuba Akotonon FC players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
