With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arif Özender in the 37th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gustave Souchu saved R.C. Marseille from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cyrille Melon got free with 楚棋傲 in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gustave Souchu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Arif Özender's shot from short distance in the 45th minute. If Mihail Toader had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Marseille was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cyrille Melon didn't get a good kick on the ball.
