The throw-in from Alexsandro Massa in the 17th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Villaverde Celeste Clube's Nicolai Otamendi. Guarani Futebol Clube's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Guo Ao ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Nicolai Otamendi got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Adalberto de Moraes quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 20th minute of the match Villaverde Celeste Clube got a corner. Guarani Futebol Clube's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Guo Ao ran over to the corner to take the kick. After a rather tough play, Guarani Futebol Clube's Ricardo Beckenbauer got a free kick in the 26th minute. In the 28th minute, Roy Makaay got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 31st minute, Roy Makaay made a precise shot to the right of Adalberto de Moraes. Guarani Futebol Clube's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. 34 minutes into the game, Roy Makaay cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Adalberto de Moraes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A collision led to Guarani Futebol Clube getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Alexsandro Massa hit a great ball. Adalberto de Moraes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roy Makaay, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. In the 40th minute of the game Alexsandro Massa made a throw-in which Ferenc Puskás played forward. Villaverde Celeste Clube's Zeledon Vachon quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Alexsandro Massa, made in the 44th minute of the game. After the first half Villaverde Celeste Clube were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Roy Makaay made a kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Roy Makaay in the 52nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Adalberto de Moraes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to Guarani Futebol Clube getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Alexsandro Massa hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Guarani Futebol Clube defense, Roy Makaay kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Adalberto de Moraes. The Guarani Futebol Clube fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Adalberto de Moraes should have stopped the shot. Roy Makaay's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Adalberto de Moraes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 60th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Villaverde Celeste Clube's Zeledon Vachon got a free kick in the 61st minute. Adalberto de Moraes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roy Makaay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 68 played minutes Guarani Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by Edu Barros. Alexsandro Massa hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Villaverde Celeste Clube's Pedro Augusto Vale was substituted for Armandinho Xavier. After 73 played minutes Guarani Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by Alexsandro Massa. Kıraç Uskan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Adalberto de Moraes having to make a save. Adalberto de Moraes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kıraç Uskan in the 74th minute of play. Adalberto de Moraes made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Kıraç Uskan sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Villaverde Celeste Clube booed when Guarani Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexsandro Massa didn't get a good kick on the ball. 81 minutes into the game, Villaverde Celeste Clube's Kıraç Uskan nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Adalberto de Moraes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. Adalberto de Moraes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kıraç Uskan in the 86th minute of play. Villaverde Celeste Clube's Nicolai Otamendi quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Alexsandro Massa, made in the 90th minute of the game. When Kıraç Uskan came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Villaverde Celeste Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kıraç Uskan couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kıraç Uskan in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Adalberto de Moraes saved Guarani Futebol Clube from getting behind. The Guarani Futebol Clube manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Villaverde Celeste Clube to win.
