Fenerbahçe S.K.'s Kristian Martinsson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Fenerbahçe S.K. from getting a goal against them. The coaching staff of Saint Etienne FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Adrian Cristofor had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 76 minutes into the game, one of Saint Etienne FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Fenerbahçe S.K.'s supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
