Emil Gheară recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. But to his dismay, Aurelio Mederi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After 52 played minutes Aurelio Mederi rounded Inter de Melão's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-5. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aurelio Mederi got free with Claudio-Paul Taffarel in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Aurelio Mederi who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 68thth minute tested the skills of Claudio-Paul Taffarel when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Aurelio Mederi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Claudio-Paul Taffarel was relentless in the 89th minute of the game.
