After 5 minutes Panionios MK's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Károly Bogdán who took care of the corner kick. Vinicio Venceslao made a great header on AZURDUY F.C.'s corner, it was just that Panionios MK's Erik Vale managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 11th match minute, AZURDUY F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tom Hermansson to maneuver through the defense. Teodosio Iigo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Themos Leontiadis in the 12th minute of the match. Erik Vale took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tom Hermansson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Erik Vale made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tom Hermansson in the 18th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tom Hermansson in the 19th minute of play forced Panionios MK's goalkeeper Erik Vale to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 23 minutes, Erik Vale successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. When Allan Corrigan came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Panionios MK fans jumped to their feet. Panionios MK's Erik Vale played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tom Hermansson in the 28th minute of play. 28 minutes into the match, Panionios MK's goal looked a bit too open when Tom Hermansson came free, but Erik Vale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to AZURDUY F.C. getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Elpidio Laurgain hit a great ball. Themos Leontiadis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Teodosio Iigo having to interfere. In the 36th minute, Tom Hermansson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tom Hermansson received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Erik Vale came out and tried to block the shot, but Tom Hermansson slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 39th minute. Tom Hermansson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Erik Vale having to make a save. With an all-out effort, AZURDUY F.C.'s Erik Vale threw himself towards the right post 44 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Tom Hermansson, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Themos Leontiadis stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, AZURDUY F.C.'s Teodosio Iigo got control of the ball when Allan Corrigan tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 65th minute, Vicente Etxatxu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. AZURDUY F.C.'s Manuel Valerio was substituted for Vinicio Venceslao. AZURDUY F.C.'s Berker Soytekin was substituted for Elpidio Laurgain. The supporters of Panionios MK booed when AZURDUY F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vicente Etxatxu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Teodosio Iigo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Argyris Ksagorarakis in the 67th minute. After 85 played minutes Panionios MK got a freekick which was hit by Fanis Salepis. A collision led to AZURDUY F.C. getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Berker Soytekin hit a great ball. AZURDUY F.C.'s Berker Soytekin managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Antonis Linardakis in the 90 minute of the game. After 94 played minutes Panionios MK got a freekick which was hit by Antonis Linardakis. If Petr Vosáhlo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. For all the effort they put into the match, the Panionios MK players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for AZURDUY F.C..
