Sezai Yura showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sven de Zwaan, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. 11 minutes into the game, Germanas Judeikis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Rigoberto Nazario was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Argentinos Juniors's zone, Germanas Judeikis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rigoberto Nazario came out of the goal and Germanas Judeikis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 24th minute Germanas Judeikis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rigoberto Nazario saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 29 minutes, Roberto Trotta mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Argentinos Juniors and the Lokomotiv Bornova players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 28th minute of the game. One of Argentinos Juniors:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Lokomotiv Bornova:s goal. Through an outstanding action, after 31 minutes, Sezai Yura successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Sezai Yura made an important save on a dangerous shot by Petruț Fințescu in the 33rd minute. Petruț Fințescu's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Sezai Yura firmly grabbed it by the left post. Germanas Judeikis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rigoberto Nazario read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play. With a little luck, Lokomotiv Bornova's Sezai Yura got control of the ball when Petruț Fințescu tried to sneak it across the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
