Mauricio Precioso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roman Gdaniec, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. In the 14th minute, Roman Gdaniec got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 16th minute Berkay Yetiş shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mauricio Precioso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Roman Gdaniec blasted a shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mauricio Precioso having to make a save. Club Puerto Quito's Mauricio Precioso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Berkay Yetiş in the 21st minute of play. 28 minutes into the match, Roman Gdaniec had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mauricio Precioso. Club Puerto Quito's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Roman Gdaniec was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. 32 minutes into the match, Girona FC's Berkay Yetiş sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mauricio Precioso narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Rufino Giron sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Girona FC's Roman Gdaniec in the 39th minute got a chance for a shot 39th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Club Puerto Quito's goalie prevented a goal. Mauricio Precioso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Berkay Yetiş in the 43rd minute of play. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Puerto Quito's goalkeeper Mauricio Precioso, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After the first half Girona FC were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Girona FC made a substitution. David Palau replaced Roman Gdaniec. Girona FC's attentive José Gonçalves managed to snatch the ball when Erdinç Hayırlı made a throw-in in the 52nd minute of the game. David Palau scored 0-4 in the 54th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mauricio Precioso, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With a little luck, Club Puerto Quito's Mauricio Precioso got control of the ball when David Palau tried to sneak it across the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers David Palau in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mauricio Precioso saved Club Puerto Quito from getting behind. Girona FC's Alfonso De Pedro was substituted for Berkay Yetiş. In the 61st minute of the match Girona FC got a corner. Club Puerto Quito's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Iván Salgado ran over to the corner to take the kick. José Gonçalves was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers David Palau in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mauricio Precioso saved Club Puerto Quito from getting behind. In the 65th minute Girona FC were awarded a corner. Iván Salgado went to the cornerflag to take it. 70 minutes into the match, Club Puerto Quito's goal looked a bit too open when David Palau came free, but Mauricio Precioso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 72 minutes into the match, David Palau dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Mauricio Precioso, 0-5. In the 79th minute, David Palau ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mauricio Precioso was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-6. Mauricio Precioso made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alfonso De Pedro in the 84th minute. In the 85th minute Ayoví Costoya shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lastur Murcia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 86thth minute of the game David Palau who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Club Puerto Quito's Mauricio Precioso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a little luck, Club Puerto Quito's Mauricio Precioso got control of the ball when Alfonso De Pedro tried to sneak it across the goal line. 89 minutes into the game, Girona FC's David Palau nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mauricio Precioso made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-7. Girona FC made a substitution. Kepa Molina replaced Joaquim Lustosa. After a defensive mix-up in Girona FC's zone, Rufino Giron stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lastur Murcia came out of the goal and Rufino Giron tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Girona FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Girona FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
