An unexpectedly hard shot by Ralf Rask in the 3rd minute of play forced Roma FC's goalkeeper Bartolo Senon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bartolo Senon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Charlie Jansson, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. Charlie Jansson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hasan Hüseyin Orak in the 8th minute of play forced Roma FC's goalkeeper Bartolo Senon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hartlepool's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Hasan Hüseyin Orak in the 9th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Federico Hug in the 10th minute of play forced Hartlepool's goalkeeper Åke Stål to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bartolo Senon didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bengt Blixt went, in the 12th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Bartolo Senon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ralf Rask in the 17th minute of the match. With a little luck, Hartlepool's Åke Stål got control of the ball when Fulgencio Palos tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 23rd minute Teofilo Tono shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Åke Stål saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 30th minute, Teofilo Tono left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Roma FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Bengt Blixt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Bartolo Senon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 40 minutes into the game, Teofilo Tono was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Roma FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hartlepool the free kick. A collision led to Roma FC getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Teofilo Tono hit a great ball. Bengt Blixt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 44th minute, Per-Oskar Kilberg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Åke Stål took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Teofilo Tono, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half Hartlepool were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Teofilo Tono made the kick off in the second half. When Teofilo Tono came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Roma FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Teofilo Tono couldn't finish the play. If Alfredo Crescencio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Charlie Jansson scored 1-3 in the 58th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Bartolo Senon, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Ralf Rask had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 63rd match minute, Hartlepool was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ralf Rask to maneuver through the defense. Bartolo Senon made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Ralf Rask sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bengt Blixt got free with Bartolo Senon in the 67th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The crowd rose to their feet as Ralf Rask kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Bartolo Senon. That made the score 1-4 in the 71 minute of play. Hasan Hüseyin Orak fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bartolo Senon having to interfere. If Ralf Rask had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bartolo Senon was a little too slow when Bengt Blixt got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 79th minute. The score was now 1-5. Hasan Hüseyin Orak received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Bartolo Senon came out and tried to block the shot, but Hasan Hüseyin Orak slotted it home off the left post making it 1-6 in the 81st minute. Roma FC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Charlie Jansson 87 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-7. In the 90th minute, Charlie Jansson fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 96th minute of the match, Bengt Blixt tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Bartolo Senon saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 97th minute Hartlepool were awarded a corner. Hasan Hüseyin Orak went to the cornerflag to take it. Hartlepool's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
