The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jeremy Nicholas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Santana in the 15th minute of the match. Jeremy Nicholas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Santana in the 18th minute of play. 19 minutes into the match, New England Minas's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Santana came free, but Jeremy Nicholas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 20th match minute, Galo do Japi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cléberson Lara to maneuver through the defense. Edgardo Silvas short, quick shot in the 34thth minute got Ronaldo Giovanelli to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 34 played minutes Galo do Japi got a freekick which was hit by Cauan Catarinense. When Cauan Catarinense fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Galo do Japi's protests and gave Cauan Catarinense a yellow card for diving instead. In the 35th minute, Cauan Catarinense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ronaldo Giovanelli made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edgardo Silva in the 38th minute. A sloppy throw-in by Ye Gang Cheng in the 44th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Galo do Japi's Cafu Ringaa. Carlos Santana scored 0-2 in the 47th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jeremy Nicholas, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Carlos Santana stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jeremy Nicholas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Galo do Japi's Cléberson Lara got a free kick in the 56th minute. 59 minutes into the match, Galo do Japi's goal looked a bit too open when Tony Pacheco came free, but Ronaldo Giovanelli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 78th minute Tony Pacheco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronaldo Giovanelli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jeremy Nicholas made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Carlos Santana sent off a good shot on target.
