In the 19th minute Niilo Mikkola shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Virgilio Pacifico saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leif Törnqvist fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Virgilio Pacifico having to interfere. Jacobo Casado might have been able to make a better finish in the 30th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Virgilio Pacifico. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jacobo Casado ran back to his position shaking his head. After 32 played minutes SeleSantos FC got a freekick which was hit by Jacobo Casado. Dinei Pinheiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Narciso Sindo in the 36th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Narciso Sindo was the one to do the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Narciso Sindo during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Dinei Pinheiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Narciso Sindo in the 82nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Narciso Sindo in the 85th minute of play forced SeleSantos FC's goalkeeper Dinei Pinheiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Patricio Rey Futbol Club getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Carlos Salvino hit a great ball. Leif Törnqvist received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Virgilio Pacifico tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
