King Scorpio ran back to his position shaking his head. FC La Masia's Cesinha do Vale played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by King Scorpio in the 33rd minute of play. Cesinha do Vale was a little too slow when James Batistuta got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 36th minute. The score was now 3-1. Glenn Fyfe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lúcio da Rocha in the 42nd minute of play. In the 43rd minute of the match, James Batistuta got a very nice opportunity to score, but Cesinha do Vale was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Cesinha do Vale showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from King Scorpio, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Cesinha do Vale didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dumitru Purcărete went, in the 47th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-1 was the resulting score. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Antônio Simão stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
