The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Maximino Lastur hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laerte Favoretto in the 8th minute of play forced Matheu City FC's goalkeeper Celedonio Eguen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Remigio Valerón took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Robinho Salgado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 16th match minute, ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Taurino Losantos to maneuver through the defense. Minas Makris could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Remigio Valerón made a huge save. With a little luck, ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's Remigio Valerón got control of the ball when Minas Makris tried to sneak it across the goal line. Matheu City FC's Anselmo Jenaro was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Remigio Valerón in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Celedonio Eguen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laerte Favoretto, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. After 27 minutes of play, ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's Amadeo Lara made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Celedonio Eguen was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 32nd minute of the match ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO got a corner. Matheu City FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Amadeo Lara ran over to the corner to take the kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ruperto Serafo in the 35th minute of play forced ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's goalkeeper Remigio Valerón to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Remigio Valerón took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ruperto Serafo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Amadeo Lara in the 38th minute of play forced Matheu City FC's goalkeeper Celedonio Eguen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 41st minute, Minas Makris ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Remigio Valerón was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Minas Makris sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Minas Makris to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robinho Salgado in the 55th minute of play forced ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's goalkeeper Remigio Valerón to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 57 minutes into the match, Matheu City FC's goalkeeper Celedonio Eguen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Amadeo Lara. 58 minutes had been played when some careless play by Matheu City FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Amadeo Lara was slow to take the kick. During this time ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's players had a chance to rest. Remigio Valerón made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anier Manny in the 62nd minute of play. 63 minutes into the match, Matheu City FC's goal looked a bit too open when Amadeo Lara came free, but Celedonio Eguen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Amadeo Lara got free with Celedonio Eguen in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 67 minutes into the game, Robinho Salgado cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Remigio Valerón was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 78 played minutes Matheu City FC got a freekick which was hit by Maximino Lastur. ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's Julio Alacuart was substituted for Amadeo Lara. Maximino Lastur kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Anselmo Jenaro's late challenge caught a ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Anselmo Jenaro helped the player get up and apologised. 87 minutes into the match, ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's goal looked a bit too open when Robinho Salgado came free, but Remigio Valerón reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Remigio Valerón showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robinho Salgado, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Julio Alacuart came free with the goalkeeper in the 91st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Celedonio Eguen could save by the left post. In the 92nd minute, Eulalio Santio had to leave the field with a concussion. Julio Alacuart charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Julio Alacuart the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Julio Alacuart hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
