Universitario's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. 董浩朗 ran over to the corner to take the kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mon Postigo in the 25th managed to get into a good position. Lionel-Andrés Newell could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 94th minute of the match, but Gilles Eichenberger made a huge save. In the 95th minute Universitario were awarded a corner. Carlos Zambrano went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Universitario's Carlos Zambrano to fire away a dangerous shot which Gilles Eichenberger despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Universitario's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
