Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rodolfo Trigo in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Edgard de Almeida prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 19 minutes into the match, Irreal Madrid's goal looked a bit too open when Paulão Medeiros came free, but Noel Braga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcos Eger in the 21st minute of play forced Irreal Madrid's goalkeeper Noel Braga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Montesclarense E.C.'s Edgard de Almeida played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rodolfo Trigo in the 25th minute of play. Rodolfo Trigo was extremely unlucky when he, in the 29th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 33rd minute Alfredo Secco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgard de Almeida saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 43rd minute Paulão Medeiros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Noel Braga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eusébio Siqueira got in the 45th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Edgard de Almeida handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Alfredo Secco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The Montesclarense E.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Edgard de Almeida should have stopped the shot. Montesclarense E.C.'s players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
