The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, União Verde FC's goal looked a bit too open when Celedonio Abajas came free, but Valdir Pérez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 8th minute Zé Paulo Hermes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valdir Pérez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Zé Paulo Hermes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Valdir Pérez was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. After 16 minutes of play, FC Yucatan Chichén Itzá's Maximiliano Shepherd made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Valdir Pérez was left in no man's land by his defense there! Valdir Pérez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Celedonio Abajas in the 20th minute of play. The supporters of FC Yucatan Chichén Itzá booed when União Verde FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. União Verde FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Zé Paulo Hermes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. União Verde FC's Valdir Pérez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Celedonio Abajas in the 56th minute of play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 57 minutes into the game, when Válbson Marques put in a rough tackle. A collision led to União Verde FC getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Válbson Marques hit a great ball. Valdir Pérez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomás Madaleno in the 62nd minute of the match. Through an outstanding action, after 65 minutes, Valdir Pérez successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Valdir Pérez came out of the goal in the 70th minute to try and stop a shot by FC Yucatan Chichén Itzá's Zé Paulo Hermes. But to his dismay, Zé Paulo Hermes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. Through an outstanding action, after 73 minutes, Valdir Pérez successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Celedonio Abajas's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Valdir Pérez firmly grabbed it by the left post. FC Yucatan Chichén Itzá's Celso Hartz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benjamim Saldanha in the 79th minute of play. Maximiliano Shepherd fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valdir Pérez having to interfere. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in União Verde FC's zone, Zé Paulo Hermes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Valdir Pérez came out of the goal and Zé Paulo Hermes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the final whistle sounded FC Yucatan Chichén Itzá left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than União Verde FC.
